My mom did a better job of celebrating this idea than I did and she didn't even realize she was celebrating the holiday.

Another Look Unlimited Day is a holiday intended to lessen the load on the earth's landfills. In other words, you're supposed to take a second look at the things you are throwing away and see if they can be donated, recycled, etc.

One of the joys of my life is getting rid of lots of things. But it's so hard! I know that as soon as I throw away that sweater I never wear I will have a need to wear it and who knows when I'll need scraps of assorted papers to make a collage or something. This day is a challenge for me. But it is definitely something I believe in.

How to Celebrate Another Look Unlimited Day by Melinda

1. Realize you are not your stuff

    -just because you have a shoe box of letters saying you are wonderful doesn't make it so. You are wonderful without them. You are not your stuff (aka we can place those letters in a recycling bin).

2. Understand your stuff is not your memories

    - you're going to remember that great summer you had at the beach with your friends even without the T-shirt and shells you collected and you will remember your grandma without the hat stand she left you that you never use because you do not wear hats (aka we can take them to a donation facility).

3. Recognize that there's rarely a case for just-in-case
 - a lot of times it is plain not worth is to hang on to half a spool of teal thread because you might need it to sew another teal dress. You probably won't. And if you do, pop on over to your local store and buy one for a couple of bucks (aka we must get rid of anything we want to keep for just-in-case unless it is food storage for just-in-case a hurricane comes).
