eat an extra dessert day - september 4

4:01 PM

Whoever invented this holiday was an actual genius.
An excuse to eat an extra dessert? You don't have to tell me twice.

I told a friend about this holiday and she shrugged it off, saying she'd already celebrated it the night before with a low calorie ice cream bar. I'm all about that normally; power to you for not submitting to the natural man.
But this is a holiday.
It was then that I realized that this holiday belief is something that sets me apart from a lot of adults. I really do believe in these kind of things. I know it's ridiculous, but I actually seriously consider my 11:11 wishes because I believe wishing for something in that moment means it will happen (despite the fact that if I rationally considered the outcome of my previous wishes, I'd be aware of the fact that that only actually happen roughly 40% of the time). But I'm that person. And I'm that person who really believes that Christmas Day is set apart from all other days in specialness. But really, it is just a day. Just a day. If someone hadn't named it a day of celebration and cancelled school and work and decided that it is the National Day of Gift Giving, it would be just a day and nothing else. It's our belief that it's special and our consequential celebrating of it that gives it power as a special day.
It's this belief in the power of the declaring a day a National Whatever that makes this All the Days are Holidays business work for me. I really believe that through christening a day a holiday it becomes one and I really believe that today I have the obligation to make this day set apart from the rest by eating an extra dessert.

I made this with my sisters. It is more than an extra dessert as it has all your best desserts in one place. Sooo good CakeSpy: Batter Belly Dough Cake
