what is all the days are holidays?

5:31 PM

I love holidays.

I really love holidays.

Growing up we went all out for all the regular ones, but we even found ways to commemorate the lesser-celebrated holidays. For instance, Groundhog Day was celebrated with cupcakes topped with Almond Joy groundhogs and the viewing of the Bill Murray film.

I don't think I grew out of this fondness for holidays. Why would I? A day that is dubbed a holiday is transformed from the ordinary into the magnificent — even medial everyday activities have a new joy to them because they are painted with the color of the day. Maybe you have to go to school on Halloween, but at least you get to dress like someone who isn't you. Maybe you have to clean the house on Valentine's Day, but you have a reason to eat a piece of chocolate cake for lunch. Maybe you have to work on your birthday, but people keep making you feel special by remembering your day.

Nothing's different about the day except that it's been designated a holiday, but that's enough to transform everything about the day.

And that's exactly what I need in my life right now.

I graduated from college (yay!). I have a Bachelor of Arts in English which is awesome but frankly, I don't know what I'm doing. I have yet to find myself a job. I'm used to being very busy and I'm not. Also, I haven't seen someone my age in roughly two weeks. My life is in need of some pizazz that a holiday has the power to instill.

So here's what I'm going to do:
Every day, I am going to celebrate at least one of the proclaimed holidays for that day.

And I'm going to blog a blog about it every day.

Here's what I want to accomplish:
1. practice writing informally
2. publish my writing on the internet
3. look forward to something every day
